Last week we’ve released a new development version of Remus. This version contains some major improvements and bugfixes:

  • Executing rules is more flexible. It is now possible to execute complex scripts without relying on installed information types
  • Setup of Webshotting was refactored is now much more comfortable. No more dealing with parameters.
  • Making screenshots is now much more powerful. You can add annotations like text and simple figures like rectangles, circles or arrows to the image.

We released a tutorial on how to setup Remus for Backlogging of links, texts and code-snippets. We highly recommend the reading to use the power of simple data-transfer to Remus. You can find the tutorial here.

We also want to anounce an upcoming Webinar for Remus. It is free of charge and you can register at http://live.eclipse.org/node/1005

Am a new user, Remus has great potential but it does lack luster on some of its bells and whistles; I wish remus had a thunderbird plugin and not just an outlook plugin, the WebDav plugin has problems with Windows SkyDrive (It can connect but can’t access the folders), its lack of support for other TYPES of files is a big drawback, a sound or video recorder plugin could be great (for voice and video notes), It has no child node creation for file types (just for category or projects), complete documentation and sample scripts for the groovy plugin and finally the tasks plugin should have a “percetage completion” field and not just if its complete or not.

        Albert,
thanks for your Input. I really appreciate that. To keep communiction transparent for other users please use the support forum (see http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=166) for your questions. We’re currently working for a better integration for files and documents, a Thunderbird plugin is requested by many other users, unfortunately a implemenation is not easy hence it is not scheduled (but on our list). We’re working also on a better documentation, I must admit that documentation is still poor. To use your Webdav store, please see the screencast at http://remus-software.org/media/screencasts/folder_synchronization/folder_synchronization.html howto synchronize with a remote repository. The task already has a slider for the completion.
        Cheers

Dude the Updated Remus is broken on my computer, Am not sure if its Remus itself or one of the plug-ins/add-ons; The problem is this: After I update Remus with the “Remus Information Update Management” and then update any other Add-ons, after Remus prompts me to restart the app, Remus would be stuck in a restarting loop (It won’t finish loading the app, instead after it has loaded my workspace it would restart immediately.

What was the problem? Am a computer science major, studying right now, so this kinds of things do interest me. :)

It was a problem with the configuration of the start-levels of certain plugins that are checking for new and updated plugins, so that they confused each other..at the end only a configuration file had to be changed…
